By Installing a performance or racing cam shaft, your engine can see a few potential benefits. These may include,
– Increased horsepower and torque: Performance camshafts are designed to optimize the engine’s breathing, allowing more air and fuel to flow through the engine. This can result in a noticeable increase in horsepower and torque output.
– Enhanced engine response: Performance camshafts typically have a more aggressive profile, which can improve throttle response and make the engine feel more “lively” and responsive, especially at higher RPMs.
– Improved top-end power: Performance camshafts are often designed to maximize power at higher engine speeds, which can translate to better acceleration and top-end performance.
– Potential for increased fuel efficiency: In some cases, a well-designed performance camshaft can improve engine efficiency, leading to better fuel economy, particularly at cruising speeds.
– Increased engine sound: The more aggressive profile of a performance camshaft can produce a deeper, more pronounced engine sound, which some enthusiasts find desirable.
– It’s important to note that upgrading the camshaft is often part of a larger engine modification process, and the performance gains may depend on the specific camshaft, engine, and other supporting modifications. Proper installation and tuning are also crucial to ensure the engine runs safely and efficiently with the new camshaft.
